Six Cortez Middle School students have been selected to the Colorado Middle School All-state Choir. The all-state choir will perform Feb. 7, 2014, at the Bellco Theater in the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. The students prepared an audition tape in four categories, singing “My Country ’Tis of Thee,” a sight reading, an oral recall and a part singing. Less than half the 715 students trying out for the choir were chosen. There are 200 girls and 150 boys in the all-state choir. “I’m just really proud of them,” said choir director Marla Sitton.
