Parents Melanie Begaye and Kern Dutchie III get to know their newborn son, Keagon Dutchie, the first baby born in 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital. Keagon was born at 7:26 p.m. on Jan. 2 and weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. Employees at Southwest Health System presented the baby boy with a gift basket with blankets, baby medical kit, a stuffed animal, first animal book, pacifiers and a $100 City Market gift card. They also gave the new parents a diaper bag with a bottle carrier and a bottle cooler.
